What visitors flagged with "Report this listing". Resolve closes the report; Remove deletes the listing and emails its owner.
Reviews & stories
The ratings people leave while removing a listing, and the homepage stories waiting for approval, now live on their own page.
Communities
Every community name - built-in and added - lives here. Deleting one hides it from every dropdown for all users (add it back by name to restore it). Names users type while posting land here too, so any junk can be deleted.
Error log
Anything that breaks in a visitor's browser lands in the log with the page, browser, and app version - one page per day. Visitors only ever see a generic "we're on it" message.
Page views
Page views live in Vercel's dashboard: vercel.com → deshly project → Analytics tab (enable Web Analytics once, free).
Reviews & stories
Removal reviews
Every rating left while removing a listing: who (account email), the 1-5 score, which option they picked and anything they wrote. Private - only you ever see these. Delete drops one from the log forever.
Homepage stories
Pending stories wait here. Approve puts them on the homepage; Reject hides them forever. Approved ones can be taken down again.

DeshMate helps students and professionals find rooms and roommates from their own community. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account details. When you create an account we store your name, email address and age. We ask your age once to make sure everyone on DeshMate is 18 or older; it is never shown on the site. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email with us, and we ask for your age separately.
- Listing details. When you post a room we store what you enter in the form: your name, phone number (seekers can call it or reach it on WhatsApp), optional alternate phone, the room details, location, your roommate preferences (such as food, pets and preferred age ranges) and any photos you upload.
- Contact messages. When you use the contact form we receive your name, your email address (so we can reply to you), your message and any screenshot you attach.
- Account activity. We keep an internal log of account activity - sign-ins and changes to listings, reviews and saved rooms - to keep the site safe and help us fix problems. It is visible only to the DeshMate team and is never shown publicly.
How we use it
- Listing details are shown publicly so seekers can find your room. Your phone numbers are only shown to people who are signed in, to protect them from spammers.
- Your email address is used to sign you in and to connect your listings to your account. It is never shown publicly on the site.
- Contact messages are emailed to the DeshMate team so we can reply and improve the site.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
- We do not show ads or use advertising trackers.
- We do not send marketing emails.
Where your data lives
DeshMate runs on trusted services: Supabase stores our database and photos, Vercel hosts the website, Google provides sign-in and fonts, and Resend delivers contact form emails. Each of these companies has its own privacy policy and security practices.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits. We do not use tracking cookies.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete any of your listings at any time from the "Your listings" page. Deleting a listing removes it from the site and deletes its photos from our storage. Your uploads (profile photo and listing photos) live in a storage folder tied to your account, and the folder goes away once everything in it is deleted.
- If you want your account and all of its data removed, send us a message through the and we will delete it.
Age requirement
DeshMate is meant for adults searching for housing. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or post a room.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top.

Terms of Service
Last updated: July 5, 2026
Welcome to DeshMate. By using this website you agree to these terms. They are written in plain language on purpose - please read them.
What DeshMate is
DeshMate is a free notice board that connects people who have a room to share with people looking for one. We are not a landlord, broker, property manager or rental agency. We are not part of any agreement you make with a roommate, and we do not collect rent, deposits or fees.
What DeshMate is not
- We do not verify listings, identities, photos or prices. Anyone can post, so always verify a room and the person yourself before sending money.
- Never pay a deposit or rent before you have seen the room (in person or on a live video call) and are confident the person is genuine.
- If a listing looks like a scam, please report it to us through the contact form so we can remove it.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use DeshMate.
- Keep your login details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Post only rooms in homes you currently live in or manage, and keep your listing details truthful and up to date.
Rules for posting and messaging
- No scams, fake listings, spam or advertising unrelated to finding roommates.
- No harassment, hate or abusive behavior toward other users.
- No illegal content or activity of any kind.
- DeshMate is a roommate-matching community. Listings describe the current household so seekers can find a culturally comfortable home. They are not offers by landlords to rent entire dwellings, and all users must follow applicable fair housing laws.
Our rights
We may edit, remove or refuse any listing, and suspend or delete any account, at any time if we believe these terms have been broken or the safety of our users is at risk.
No warranties
DeshMate is provided "as is", free of charge, without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the site running and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, DeshMate and its creators are not liable for any loss or damage that results from using the site, including disputes between roommates, inaccurate listings or losses from scams. Your dealings with other users are solely between you and them.
Changes to these terms
If we make meaningful changes to these terms, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Continuing to use DeshMate after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Our story
Far from home.
Close to home.
Everyone on DeshMate left home to build something here. We help you find the roommate who brings home closer: your language in the kitchen, your festivals on the calendar, your comfort food on the stove.

Why DeshMate exists
Moving to a new country is exciting and lonely at the same time. The hardest part often isn't the paperwork or the classes or the job - it's coming back to a place that doesn't feel like home.
Finding a roommate from your own community usually happens through word of mouth, WhatsApp groups and luck. DeshMate turns that word of mouth into one simple, free notice board.
Stop scrolling WhatsApp and Telegram groups
A room post in a group chat is buried within the hour. So you repost every morning, scroll past hundreds of messages, DM strangers and hope for the best. That is the exact problem DeshMate was built to end.
- Post once, not daily. Your listing stays live until you take it down.
- Search, don't scroll. Filter by community, city and budget in seconds.
- Your number stays yours. Contact details are hidden from bots and spammers, not pasted into a chat with 482 strangers.
Cook the food that tastes like home
Some evenings it's dal and rice made exactly the way your mother makes it. Other nights the whole flat smells of biryani, or everyone is folding dumplings around the table at midnight.
The kitchen is where a flat becomes a home. With roommates from your community, nobody asks what that spice is or why the pressure cooker whistles - someone just hands you a plate and pulls up a chair.

Never miss a festival again
Far from home, a festival can feel like just another Tuesday. In the right household it never does: diyas on the balcony for Diwali, colours in the parking lot for Holi, red lanterns and dumplings for Lunar New Year, sweets at dawn on Eid.
When your roommates keep the same calendar you do, someone strings the lights, someone makes the sweets and nobody lets you celebrate alone.

What we do
Connect communities
Every listing says which language communities the home welcomes, so you can search for a household where you'll fit right in.
Keep it free
No listing fees, no contact fees, no commissions. DeshMate is a community notice board, not a rental agency.
Stay out of the way
We connect you and step back. Rent, deposits and agreements happen directly between roommates.
What we believe
Everyone far from home deserves a home that feels like one.
- Your phone number belongs to you - we hide contact details from bots and only show them to signed-in people.
- Trust is earned: verify every room and every person before you pay anything. We are honest about being a notice board, not a verification service.
